Blockchain technology has always touched my heart for years. It takes me a few years to build blockchain cognition.

In 2015, an American friend, Frank, pulled me up and asked me to develop a blockchain technology, because a blockchain is a distributed database. At that time, I was working on Couchbase, and at the same time, I was considering a big data entrepreneurial project. Due to the limitation of my understanding of blockchain, why do people use blockchain as a distributed database to store things? And, but it is true that there are very few applications on top of the blockchain, and I missed it for the first time.

In 2018, my startup in China was facing Huawei acquisition, so I was thinking about what my next project would be. At that time, a friend of mine, Wen Yan, gave me an enlightenment class on blockchain, which made me realize the meaning of blockchain, not only from a technical level, but also from a humanistic and ideological perspective. A lively lesson. Then I studied several storage projects such as IPFS, and many friends suggested that I start with blockchain storage. After all, I have many years of experience in Hadoop HDFS and distributed systems. Because the market fell into a bear market, I gave up again and missed the blockchain for the second time.

The third time came. In June 2021, after experiencing the failure of education and entrepreneurship, I decided to devote myself to the cause of blockchain. Where to start? Let’s start with distributed storage, solve the problems of storage performance and efficiency, and make a better storage than IPFS. During this process, I also communicated with many blockchain predecessors, exchanged ideas, learned about the blockchain and the community, and found that the problems solved by IPFS and decentralized storage are not the core problems of the blockchain. In web3, the core technology is blockchain. As a distributed storage, the purpose of blockchain is to store the ledger data. After working on distributed systems for so long, I found an opportunity for me to do it and try to solve the core problems of blockchain.
